My mother paints with brushes and wet colors.
She is vibrant, lively, and sure.
The sink is her palette:  Dabs of yellow sunshine to honey.
Cups of murky rainbow water.
Standing back with tilted head,
adding blue to make her favorite color:  GREEN.
Thick strokes of vases filled with garden flowers.
Bottled oil, candles, a dim photograph.
These march onto an empty canvas from her mind
and through her arms.
Her fingers form a brave new landscape.
